De-Escalation is also a requirement for Phase 1.
This component is more effective with at least 2 officers.
  • During the De-Escalation training, the trainer is to run through multiple scenarios, including hostage scenarios, to assess whether or not a cadet is able to remain calm during high intensity situations, whilst maintaining the safety of all inmates, officers and civilians.
  • As the trainer, you are to only step in if required, and after each scenario, do a debrief on what went well, and what could have improved.
  • This training is mostly based off the trainer’s discretion, and has no minimum/maximum duration/number of scenarios.

Example Scenarios

  • Hostage Situation (Officer as Hostage)
  • Hostage Situation (Inmate as Hostage)
  • Inmate with Broken Bottle/Knife
  • Agitated/Aggressive Inmate
  • Fighting Inmates (restrict to only 2)
